1) The couple must go through an online application process at the local registry office.
2) If they are applying for a civil marriage, both sets of parents or guardians must sign the consent form. If they are applying for a religious marriage, only one parent or guardian need to sign the form. Once both sets of forms are received and processed by the registry office, a court date will be set.
3) On the day of the court hearing, both parties must appear together with all relevant documents (consent forms, passports/national ID cards etc). The courtroom clerk will check all paperwork and take attendance.
4) After checking all documents and taking attendance, the judge will read out all applicable family law provisions relating to marriages and decide on whether or not to proceed with the marriage.
